I watch too much HGTV. Or, rather, BEAST watches too much HGTV, and since I enjoy spending time with him, I get sucked into it too. We tend to watch House Hunters, but sometimes a few of the reno shows end up being watched too. This has all led to me deciding that something needs to be done about the kitchen in our house. When I first bought the house, several years ago, it had been a foreclosure, and there was quite a bit of cosmetic work that needed to be done. And slo-o-o-owly, as the bank account accumulates, I have been doing said work. And it's now the kitchen's turn.
So, with that in mind, I give you BEFORE.

This was actually taken several years ago when I bought the house. I have since bought a refrigerator and replaced the stove, but I wasn't able to get a good picture of anything more up to date. But everything except for the stove and refrigerator is coming out. New cabinets, new countertops, new hood, new dishwasher, new sink. Basically new everything. I have had the good since to hire people to do this -- no way are Beast and I handy enough to redo an entire kitchen -- but we did spend most of the weekend taking things out. We were able to tear out the countertop and all the cabinetry that didn't involve wires or pipes (apparently one needs to be competent with a jigsaw to take out the cabinet under the sink). The hired guns arrived today, and after the first day, the kitchen is now full of cabinetry, some installed, and some not.
This is going to be fun. It'll be a crazy two weeks, but afterwards, this room is going to be AWESOME.
