And as promised, here is the finished product -- my brand new kitchen. It took about a week and a half, and there's still some minor things left to do -- mainly some painting, which will be done by me -- but all the major work is done. And my kitchen now looks amazing. I have granite countertops, a backsplash, and 33% more counter space. Plus more cabinets, and who doesn't need more storage space?
We also have a dishwasher that actually works, a brand new microwave, AND (this is Beast's favorite part) SOFT CLOSES ON ALL THE CABINETS!!!!
We're still in the process of putting everything back where it belongs, so there's still a heap of things still on the dining room table waiting to be put away. That will probably happen over the next two days. But a kitchen reno is a great time to get rid of a lot of things you never use, so it won't take nearly as long as when we took everything OUT.
But, I would like to take the time to assure everyone that Beast and I did not starve during these past two weeks. I was out of town for two days last week for a conference, so that helped. As did the patron saint of kitchen renos -- the blessed Papa Johns. Plus, the weekend before the reno started, I had made a big pot of soup (recipe to be posted tomorrow) that was enough for considerable leftovers. And we still have our old microwave, which we have now moved downstairs (where it'll be good for dyeing), so we made good use of that.
Soup recipe tomorrow!
